Are you tired of staring at screens all week and craving an IT-fueled event? We have found it. This May, a crew of KITRUM attended DOU DAY, the IT conference in Kyiv. DOU DAY isn’t just about talks and tech specs. It’s a chance to showcase the industry’s resilience in the face of challenges, connect top Ukrainian professionals with leading companies, and build a powerhouse IT community that thrives on learning with networking.

DOU Day overview

KITRUM was founded in Ukraine, so even when working in the international market, we stay in the Ukrainian context and support our country of origin. Our goals at DOU DAY were to review the innovations and experiences of the Ukrainian IT industry, the exciting projects being developed, and how Ukrainian IT-leading companies have gone through challenging periods. Of course, we were happy to network and gain contacts with talented people. Some of them you will see on our social media as hosts for exploring engaging tech and product topics.

KITRUM at DOU Day

Tickets were sold out a week before the conference date. Projects showed themselves from the best side on engaging gamified stands, and many companies provided speakers for public discussions. DOU DAY 2024 presented 45 speakers with 25 public talks, and the total number of participants was 1200. Our eyeball count indicated that product companies were represented the most, at around 90%.

We enjoyed meeting and listening to some exciting speakers covering various topics. These included lectures on:

  • the flexible architecture development to reduce project budgets and improve project deadlines;
  • the product design stage and surveys that can explore target audience needs even before the MVP;
  • the communication tips within international teams and different world regions in the IT business, and many other fascinating speeches.

The day was punctuated with rounds of applause, a testament to the quality of the discussions.

Where is the Ukrainian IT market heading?

As we noticed how Ukrainian product companies grow, the primary domain stays agrotech, and as a new fast-growing domain appears, miltech. There was a hall with military-tech innovative developments, including different impressive UAVs with increased payload, air stability, and battery capacity. Ukrainian engineers are not sleeping but working to protect their country with the international community’s involvement.

According to DOU DAY insights, we heard such opinions about the further IT Ukrainian Market roadmap:

  • internalization and globalization to avoid the consequences of some Ukrainian territories’ occupation and the world IT crisis;
  • working with big data, especially in military tech and agricultural niches;
  • project cost reduction due to intensive development process optimization in every development stage, from architecture to testing;
  • AI integration in most fields, especially with solid data security needs, such as fintech and healthcare;
  • growing flexibility and creativeness to work with different institutions such as governmental structures, international projects, internal customers, etc.

Final thoughts

In summary, despite hard times in the global IT market and local problems, Ukrainian IT is continuously growing and developing, and practical solutions are being found to overcome these challenges. KITRUM is happy to take its origins from an extraordinarily talented national code. As one of the speakers said, “Crisis times can become a failure or a rise. We need to work on getting the second option.”

Let’s work together to raise!
