Mira Murati, possessing exceptional knowledge in the field of AI, has shared her insights on the technology’s possibilities and drawbacks in great detail. In her interview with Trevor Noah on the Daily Show, she received important queries on the subject of AI. Let’s delve into the interview and explore her responses.

¨In creating AI, are you constantly grappling with how it will affect people´s jobs and what people even consider a job?¨ asks Trevor Noah.

¨The technology we are building has such a huge effect on society, but also, society can and should shape it. With the technologies we have today, like ChatGPT-3, and DALL-E, we see them as tools, so an extension of our creativity or our writing abilities. It´s a tool. It´s a human helper¨, – says Mira Murati.

During her interview with Trevor Noah, Mira Murati also addresses concerns raised by people about preventing the spread of misinformation.

Mira Murati believes that the issues of misinformation and the impact of technology on society are crucial and challenging matters. They emphasize the importance of responsibly and safely introducing these technologies to the public while increasing public awareness of their capabilities. To this end, Murati’s team has decided to release DALL-E with certain restrictions and safeguards in place. Although they hope to educate people on what AI can do, they need to be more particular about effectively preventing misinformation. As a result, they have established guardrails to mitigate the risks.

Listening to her thoughts, it becomes apparent that Mira Murati is not only a highly skilled engineer and an excellent team leader but also a compassionate person who endeavors to raise awareness among people about the responsible use of artificial intelligence. She emphasizes that AI is merely a tool that can be beneficial if used appropriately.

During an interview with Trevor Noah, an intriguing question was raised regarding the meaning of work, life, and the purpose of human existence. Many people tend to define themselves by their occupation, but with the rise of AI taking over jobs, people may find themselves struggling to discover their purpose in life.

Here is what Mira Murati’s responded to this query:

¨We certainly think about these questions. And the tools that we see today they´re not the tools that are automating certain aspects of our job. They´re really tools extending our capabilities our inherent abilities, and making them far better. But it could be that in the future, we have these systems that can automate a lot of different jobs. I think that, as with other revolutions that we´ve gone through, there will be new jobs, and some jobs will be lost. But I´m optimistic.¨

In the interview to Time, Mira Murati shared her concerns about the possible dangers of AI.

Mira believes this is a unique moment in time where we have agency in how it shapes society. And it goes both ways: technology shapes us, and we shape it.

There are a lot of hard problems to figure out. For instance, how to get the model to do the thing that you want it to do, and how to make sure it’s aligned with human intention and ultimately in service of humanity?

There are also a ton of questions about societal impact, and there are a lot of ethical and philosophical questions that they need to consider. And it’s important that her team brings in different voices, like philosophers, social scientists, artists, and people from the humanities.
